About nexusX SINCE 2025

Consulting with a
delivery mandate.

We're a consulting firm with roots in customer communications. We close the gap between strategy and delivery - in processes, systems and projects that actually start running.

01 · Founders

20 Jahre TnT

First joint station at SPS Germany, then parallel paths at Itella and itelya, joint management at docsellent with a management buy-out and exit to the Paragon Group, eight years as CEO and CTO of the Paragon DACH and CEE region. nexusX is the continuation of that collaboration.

Thomas develops strategies and implements them. He analyses where a company stands, decides which path is realistic – and accompanies the implementation with operational responsibility.

His career has taken him through the entire value chain of customer communications: from project management in document-intensive operations to building and selling his own CCM company, through to CEO responsibility for a multinational group with €240m in revenue.

As Managing Director of docsellent, he took over a company in the CCM market, made it profitable through a turnaround and sold it to the Paragon Group in 2017. He then led the DACH/CEE region as CEO, overseeing seven locations in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, managing P&L and growth, integrating five acquisitions and building a network of over 900 employees.

This combination is rare: strategic clarity about organisations and markets – and at the same time genuine expertise in CCM. Thomas understands the cost structures behind document processes, knows how inbound and output flows interact, where automation creates leverage and where it fails. He thinks in systems, decides based on numbers and takes responsibility for results – not concepts.

With nexusX, he guides companies through transformations, reorganisations and growth phases – with a particular focus on document-driven communication processes, operational optimisation and M&A integration.

Managing Partner · Technology

Thomas designs technological solutions and builds them. He evaluates systems, selects platforms, designs processes and manages implementations – with his own resources and operational responsibility through to go-live.

His career leads from solution design and digital production management at Swiss Post Solutions to building automated end-to-end platforms as CTO at docsellent, through to overall technological responsibility for the Paragon DACH/CEE region – international locations, cross-border tech teams, scalable IT infrastructures.

What sets him apart: Thomas knows the entire document chain – from inbound processing to regulated output. He has built inbound systems with OCR and AI-assisted classification, selected and implemented CCM platforms, designed and operated output lines for major clients in insurance and banking. The integration of inbound and output, the reduction of media breaks, the automation of document-driven communication processes – that is his core domain. Add the regulatory context: systems commissioned under ISO 27001 and TISAX, nearshore structures established, international teams led.

With nexusX, he brings this depth to concrete projects: system selection and implementation in CCM and output management, process automation, technological transformation – always with the aspiration of turning architectural decisions into measurable operational results.

02 · Back office

AI assistance in daily operations.

Monika is our AI assistant and makes sure AI here isn't just a topic, but how we work.

AI isn't a buzzword here. It's a tool.

AI in daily work
  • Research and market monitoring for the market radar
  • First-pass structuring of requirements and tenders
  • Preparing analyses and reporting for steering committees
  • Our own tools like Xentora, built into everyday office work
# nexusX internal We use AI where it brings real value. Not as a show. Every decision stays traceable and with a human.
03 · Customers

Our clients move real communications volume.

We work with companies for whom customer communication is not a peripheral task – but critical infrastructure. They include leading organisations in insurance, banking, energy, telecommunications and industry, as well as specialist CCM service providers responsible for millions of documents on behalf of their clients.

04 · Frequently asked

What we get asked often.

  • Who is behind nexusX?

nexusX was founded in 2025 in Bamberg by Thomas Simon and Thomas Sperl. Both managing partners bring decades of operational experience in the customer communications market, on both client and vendor sides. Strategy, platform responsibility, M&A integration and restructuring are not advisory topics for them but lived practice. nexusX is the logical next step: a consultancy that brings this experience directly into client projects, without the detours of a large organisation.

  • Why is your claim “mind the gap”?

Because there is a gap between concept and reality that nobody closes in most consulting engagements. Concepts are written, roadmaps are handed over, presentations are delivered. What happens afterwards is left to the client. nexusX stays in delivery because that is where the actual work happens and because that is precisely where most projects fail or fall short of their potential.

  • How does an engagement start?

With a first conversation of 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the constellation. This is typically followed by a two- to four-week discovery engagement with a clear diagnosis and three to five concrete levers. The discovery either turns into a delivery engagement or an honest recommendation to another provider if nexusX is not the right partner for the matter at hand.

  • Does nexusX work cross-region?

Yes, across the entire DACH region. We are based in Bamberg and have engagements in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. On-site sessions take place as needed. Day-to-day project steering runs remotely via the Xentora platform in combination with Microsoft Teams.

  • Which technologies does nexusX work with?

nexusX does not commit to a fixed technology stack. Which technology is used is decided per project based on the following criteria: What are the clients already using? What fits the task? What can be maintained later? The principle is simple: technology must fit the organisational reality of the client – not the other way around.

In practice, this means we often work with the technologies already in use within the organisation, rather than introducing specialist solutions that no one can maintain afterwards. Open-source components such as Linux, Docker or GitHub are equally standard when they are the better choice. AI integration runs via established language models, where it delivers real value.

Our strength lies in bringing all these aspects together. We connect the right technologies, the right specialists and the knowledge of the client’s organisation in a way that results in a coherent outcome – not a collection of individual building blocks. Where a task requires deep specialist knowledge, we bring the right people on board. We always keep the big picture in mind.

A good example is Xentora: since the platform needed to be integrated into users’ everyday office workflows, Microsoft 365, Azure and the Power Platform were the natural foundation. For a different project with different requirements, this can look very different.
